Hot Whiskey Toddy 2 ways

This winter drink is one of my absolute top favorites and it always puts a smile on my face and warms my chilly cheeks! Its tried and true classic, it even featured in a film in 1921!
Im going to show you two was to prepare it, both delicious and warming on a cold winter night!

First one is

2 ounces of whiskey, I used honey whiskey, its less sharp and fits the drink a little better (in my opinion) without changing the flavor to much

1/4 of a lemon ( referring to its juices )

1 tablespoon of honey

and a cup of tea or hot water, I used English breakfast tea

a quick stir and add a pinch of cinnamon if you like and your ready to go!

Second one is

very similar to the firs tone the second is a Hot Apple Toddy!

2 ounces of whiskey

1 tablespoon of honey

a pinch of cinnamon

and a cup of hot apple cider, I used Martinellis, so delicious!

stir and enjoy! both easy and fun to make this drink is also good for sinus infections and colds. If you are not as drinker but want to enjoy this delicious past time simply don't add the whiskey and go nuts with the lemon honey and cinnamon for a delicious virgin treat! Bottoms up viewers!

Spicy Toasted Almonds

This recipe again is sooo darn easy! Perfect for a semi healthier treat when cozying up at home for a night of relaxation!

For this tasty morsel you start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees and prepping your baking sheet with tin foil. Leave a little extra foil on the sides of the pan you'll need it later for easy flipping, do not grease it though the nuts should come right off without it!

Get a regular bowl doesn't need to be too big and mix the following ingredients together, with a spoon is fin no whisk needed:

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon cumin, Ground

1/2 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon cayenne powder

Then Melt 1/4 cup of butter in a sauce pan on low heat, add your mixture from earlier to create the spiced butter and cook on low heat for 2 to 3 min.

Add 3 cups of regular untoasted unsalted nuts (raw) and stir evenly, coating every little baby nut with yummy seasoning! do that for a min or so and then display the nuts evenly on your baking sheet. If there is a little leftover liquid its ok just pour it in and let it cook off.

Bake the little nutties for 7 min and then take out the tray with oven mits or thick hand towels whatever you have on hand, no burning yourself! Use the excess sides of the tin foil to lift up the nuts and toss them about to mix them up. Return the nuts back to the oven and bake again for 7 min.

Pull them out and pour them into a large tuperware container with a lid on hand that will properly cover it. Sprinkle 1/8th cup of salt over the nuts and add the top. Shake vigorously to get the nuts completely coated with the salt. The original recipe called for the half cup so I did 1/4 because that sounded like a lot and it still was way to much so I suggest 1/8. Its doesn't look like much but it goes a long way!

Let them cool and you have yourself a delicious treat in under twenty min!

Scattergories Categories
This game is amazing and completely fun with just two people! Its competitive and brain working with vocabulary as its main focus. Players begin by taking a work card that has both a word or phrase and a description of the categories your worlds will need to come from.

Then you will write down the phrase down the boxes on the left side of the special game sheet that comes with the box (as seen above) and someone will flip the sand timer over and you will have an allotted amount of time (I think two minutes) to write down as many responses to the categories that start with the letter on the left as you can. You get one point for single words that count for the categories and start with the corresponding letter and two for answers contain 2 words that start with the letter. Like if the categories was toys and you needed and L toy and you wrote Lincoln logs you would receive two points!

All of these things are amazing in groups or just at home and can be applies to any night anywhere! So have fun with it and let me know if you come up with double or even triple word scores! Bon voyage Viewers and see you next time on malt Salt!

Pretzels against Humanity! This is Spaten! The Novela of the Cetury!

Oktoberfest! Drink n drink n drink n drink n fight! (just kidding please don't fight ~*)

Good grand morning my merry gents! This week is Oktober fest in the land of malt and salt! This be all about the grand wonderful things that that drunk son of a gun Germany has given us! Besides the best party game ever anyways ( that's American)! This blog consists of the wondrous flavors of the great and powerful Spaten Oktoberfest bier, delicious home made salted pretzel , and the oh so lovable, morale questioning game of Cards Against Humanity! You will love what it makes you into!

I've decided to make this a story of sorts that hopefully you will all enjoy, think of it as a breath of fresh air from my list-esk writing style!

The Boy known as  Dagobert

There once was a boy in the prime of his life, young, happy, and healthy as could be. His name was  Dagobert and he loved the finer things in life. He adored spending his time reading recipes and playing games, anything to keep is imaginative juices flowing. Dagobert, as adventurous as he was,  decided to take creative inspiration from nature and strolled happily through the woods just outside of town. After walking and humming along for quite some time he paused and listened quietly to hear the sounds of nature all around him. To Dagobert's surprise he began hearing faint cheers coming from  somewhere up ahead. Searching for the culprit of the commotion, he looked all around and spotted something red in the distance. Straining to peer through the thick forest at the unusual spectacle, he began to quicken his pace. Closer and closer the vibrant red became, and his excitement began to rise! Upon further glance he noticed it to be a giant tent! The volume of the cheers had risen immensely and gave way to unimaginable thoughts of the festivities parading inside.

Roaming cautiously through the immense crowds he began to make his way to the entrance of the bazar structure. Peering about he was suddenly swept through the open flap doors, colliding with the ebb and flow of the crowd. Inside the structure the cheers of the masses commenced and the smell of fine bier and other delicacies filled the room. When the serge of moving bodies finally ceased, Dagobert found himself standing dead center of the wondrous event. With this momentary pause in motion, he stood and analyzed the room to take it all in. The deductions he made were certain but entertained even more questions than he had had before, leaving him just a little bewildered. High above his head  an amazing flag soared that read Forest Oktoberfest 2014. Searching around he stared intently into the faces of the merry patrons, hoping to find someone he knew. Dagobert was stunned with shock as he realized they all were forest spirits an had wandered into an otherworldly Oktoberfest spirit festival.
"Ha ha ha ha haaaa" A thundering voice cracked from behind him and a heavy hand roughly patted his back. Dagobert staggered around to see a giant half spirit half beast that could only be described as the one and only land god of the forest. His size alone was triple that of the other spirit patrons and he could feel an immense spiritual power emanating from his body.

" Come my child, there is much to show you and so little time, please do not be alarmed, nothing will harm you here." The giant being grabbed his arm and began to pull him through the crowd only this time the masses parted and bowed to make way for their gracious leader. Shaking, he tried to escape the grip of the spiritual beast but his humanly efforts were in vein.
" See here child." The booming voice proclaimed, " If I was going to hurt you I could have easily crushed you in one fell thwamp! Ha ha ha haaaa! But alas that is not my intention, I merely meant to bring you here." Dagobert stopped struggling and looked around, finding that the giant had brought him to another part of the festival that looked all to familiar to him. The section of the festival
was a food vender emporium and had smells of food from his town back home. Feeling a little less shaken he began to relax and looked up at the beast, " I wonder if this is ok" he thought. The being pushed him up to the counter of one of the venders who greeted him with a smile.
"Go on boy!" the land god said, "I'm sure your travels have left you famished and there's plenty to go around."
The boy stared up at the friendly fox-esk vender and timidly asked for one salted pretzel. The spirit chef nodded and turned around to prepare the treat for him.

"Hello child!" The fox chef exclaimed. " I am Rotfuchs, and I will prepare for you a marvelous pretzel

Attack of the Purple Mummies, the Summer Camp/Halloween Special!

Salutations my many amigos! How's the weather where you are?.... Oh that sounds nice, I'm glad. Here it's hot then cold, often in the same day! Such is the weather of California, C'est la vie! All right enough dilly dallying, on to the task at hand! This weeks spooky adventures will include an exciting incite on Abita Breweries Purple Haze Lager, an absolutely embalming experience with winnies, and a fantastic newer game Called Camp Grizzly throughout which you may or may not survive ... Moooooo Hahahahahahahahhaahahhahaha!... Hmm oh yes, did I mention this is...THE HALLOWEEN SPECIAL? Moooooooooooooooooooooo Hahahahahahhahaahhahaahahahahaha!

Abita Purple Haze

Abita Purple Haze found its self on my table one night a few months ago, through the generosity of one of my good friends. It came both highly recommended and treasured so I just had to see what all the fuss was about. This barrel-chested, 4.2 ABV ale cam exactly to my liking, delicious and refreshing, and oh so very smooth. Purple Haze is delectably brewed with real raspberries, added after filtration as to maintain color and the "haze". Brewed with pilsner, wheat malts and Vanguard hops this beer practically gives its self away to mild, fine aroma. The berries add a fruity, tartly sweet taste and a subtle purple color, depending on the batch you may even get some actual fruit pulp in your glass! I wish we were all so lucky. I find myself wanting this treat all the time and only get it every now and then, I guess I'm keeping myself from drinking while the eerie October air is about... Well, we all know what happens when someone drinks in the movies... Or has sex or smokes pot or even sins of any degree really... Lets just say it usually ends in knives and yelling and someone not making it back alive! MOOOOOOO HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAH

Camp Grizzly

Camp Grizzly is the first game to emerge from Ameritrash Games and it emerged with a bang! This semi-cooperative survival horror board game is set in a 1970's summer camp were you and your fellow camp counselors face exciting new experiences and even find a new love. But well it cant be that easy can it, there is just a slight twist to this summer employment of yours, there is a homicidal, blood thirsty maniac, stalking the grounds killing anyone and everyone he can find. This prowler of the night is a deranged ex grounds keeper named Otis who goes around slaughtering your campers and fellow counselors in a teddy bear mask and the only way to win is to survive.

Here is a promotional video that is pretty funny :)

Here is the game rules directly from the manufacturer

Select a camp counselor and draw 2 survival cards. Permanent survival cards are immediately played face up as they represent reusable abilities or special aspects of the counselor. All other cards become your starting hand (referred to as your backpack) . Your counselor's pawn is placed at the campfire.

Your goal is to find a combination of three objective cards required to start one of four possible game finales.  The objectives are shuffled and placed on the board prior to the start of the game.

On your turn, you may move a number of spaces as indicated by your counselor's current health (As you take damage, your movement is affected). After moving, you must draw a cabin card and resolve it. Cabin cards include Weapons, Items and helpful Campers (in most cases) as well as Cameos, Plot Twists, and Otis cards which can mean big trouble.

After all players have completed their turns, it's Otis, the killer's turn. None of the players control Otis. Instead, he moves towards the closest target in an attempt to hurt the players. Fights with Otis are resolved with dice, but you can only fight if you have a weapon equipped! Winning a fight temporarily removes Otis from the board. Losing a fight means taking damage and panicking away.

Eventually, a set of objectives are found and a finale begins. Follow the instructions on the finale over several stages and the story comes to a close. The surviving counselors win the game!

Thank you Ameritrash Games!

This game is so unbelievably fun and its very adaptable to the amount of players, it can play up to 6 but two can play just fine. I really enjoy this game and the unique basis of its content keeps you interested the whole time and wanting to keep playing to see what cards Otis has in store. Its on kick starter and its still in the making and finishing process so feel free to donate and make this game more available for us all!

Thank you so much for reading and have a spooky Halloween! I look forward to righting for you again, see you next time on malt salt!

The Dogfish that Turned in to a Werewolf

Good morning viewers! how are you?... How did you sleep?... Me either, I was tossing and turning all night. *sight* Either way, you can be sure I have some great updates for us all! Today I will be sharing about a marvelous seasonal ale called  Tweason'ale by Dogfish Head Brewing company, a delicious easy to make bread bowl dip, and my favorite game of all time (ever) Ultimate Werewolf.

Tweason'ale

This beer came to me with great surprise, that preceded my great hesitance. This fine crafted brew is a new addition to the Dogfish Head family and strays a little far from the pack, but definitely not in the taste department. Despite it's crisp, full bodied flavors this ale is sorghum based and completely gluten free! The fruitiness of the strawberry and pit fruits that are used in Tweason'ale's process are perfectly coupled with hints of dark molasses and topped off ale style with malty buckwheat honey. This ale is sold in four packs of twelve ounce bottles that weight in at 6% ABV (alcohol by volume) and displays a fun logo as seen above on their packaging. I truly enjoy this ale and get it on all my special occasions, and I am a common IPA chooser as well as not gluten intolerant. Tweason'ale is everything fruity you love in a cold refreshment without all the sweetness and sugar from a cider or wine cooler. It really is a harmonious marriage between a good ale and a good fruit, bitter for beer, and crisp for fruit. So if your looking for something a little refreshing then look no further and grab a Tweason'ale!

Bomb Spinach Dip Recipe

This recipe for Spinach dip is 100% delicious and 100% easy to make, nice right!? This process only takes about ten minutes cooking time so you can get back to whatever it is your doing that required awesome spinach dip in no time. These measurements should produce 3 cups or 24 (2-tablespoon) servings.

1 cup of mayonnaise, there are light options available for dieters out there, be strong dieters!
1 cup sour cream
1 package (10 ounces) frozen chopped spinach, thawed, drained and squeezed dry
1 teaspoon dill weed
1/8 teaspoon onion powder

all of these measurements are to make a base then if you like a lit of dill add more, or if your super down with the onion powder, add more, all up to interpretation!

The icing on the cake is the delicious bread bowl, in order to do this you simply purchase the round bread loaf of your choosing, hollow it out, with clean hands I would say so you can feel how close to the walls your getting. Then cut the hollowed out section into the pieces that your guests will use to dip in your dip!

This easy appetizer is a delicious, easy crowd pleaser and will always get thins going good for your night, so enjoy and dip!

Ultimate Werewolf

Ultimate Werewolf is my number one all time favorite game and It does require a fair amount of people to play so make an event of it! The creator of this game is a man named Ted Alspach through his game company Bezier games (witch has many great games). I will post Teds Explanation of the game to maintain good clarity on the basic rules and then I will expand for you on the best parts of the game!

This is Teds neatly written explanation:
Ultimate Werewolf is an interactive game of deduction for two teams: Villagers and Werewolves. The Villagers don't know who the Werewolves are, and the Werewolves are trying to remain undiscovered while they slowly eliminate the Villagers one at a time. A Moderator (who isn't on a team) runs the game.
Ultimate Werewolf takes place over a series of game days and nights. Each day, the players discuss who among them is a Werewolf and vote out a player. Each night, the Werewolves choose a player to eliminate, while the Seer learns whether one player is a Werewolf or not. The game is over when either all the Villagers or all the Werewolves are eliminated.
Thanks Ted!

Here I will expand on the more tantalizing aspects of the game play, the lies, the truth, and the deduction of who to kill.

Werewolf, the amazing equalizer that is just so incredibly fun to experience with your friends, or even strangers for the matter! Imagine you wake up in a Village that you find to be suddenly plagued with werewolves and they could be anyone, someone sitting right next to you, your family even, or a spouse, anyone is guilty on the first day. Then as you play the game, days go buy, nights go by, as your seer searches for a wolf, some people are lynched during the day, some are devoured at night, and some story's, well, they just don't seem to make sense. All of the sudden people are catching on to someone's lie! You mob together as a last ditch effort to save your village and lynch the possible werewolf! Then the card is revealed! For you all have killed your seer, and the werewolf's have tricked you all!
